Google Cloud Platform has been made available in 20 regions around the world with 3 more on the way. They also have 173 network edge locations, available in over 200 countries. When 15 heartbeats are missed then active goes for failover and standby becomes active. Both instance will have different VIPs so for the traffic next hop address needs to be updated.
