Lower o-ring was deteriorated badly, got repair kit from Ford ($55) consisting of outer plate, valve and 2 o-rings. Lower o-ring seat was corroded, but put new one in and put on the new valve and outer plate.

Make sure you put the new sensor in the same direction as the old one you pulled out (dont turn it if that makes sense). here is a pic of what my sensor looked like after I pulled it.
